This is the part of our 2024 project: The Alphabet Challenge. Hosted by Wendy of A Day in the Life on the Farm, I thought this would be a fun culinary adventure. We will be posting every two weeks. I hope you follow along...or join in as you can. This should be fun. I can't believe that we are already on the letter 'T'. That means this year is almost over!

Toasted Croutons
One thing I have learned over the years: people love 'stuff' in their salads. While I appreciate a bowl full of greens with a light coating of homemade dressing, for most people, the more colors and textures in their salad bowl, the better. And homemade croutons are an easy way to add crunch to your salads.
The best thing about this: you probably have everything you need to make these. I use whatever bread I happen to have in the kitchen, but if you are going out to buy bread for this, our favorite is either a Japanese milk bread or focaccia.
Ingredients
2 cups (120 grams) bread, cubed
1⁄4 cup (60 milliliters) olive oil, more if needed
Salt and pepper or any seasoning blend you like
Also needed: baking sheet, parchment paper
Procedure
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil. Spread the cubes in a single layer on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt and pepper or the seasoning blend you like.
Place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the sheet from the oven and turn the cubes over. Return to the oven for another 10 minutes. The cubes should be nicely toasted and browned.
Cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.
The Alphabet Challenge So Far...
My posts are below with links to everyone else's recipes. I skipped letter 'F' apparently. Enjoy!
One of my favorite things to snack on. I don't even need a salad to enjoy them!!!
I like more colors and textures in my salad and love adding croutons. Never thought of using focaccia for croutons. Good idea.
Oooh, focaccia croutons, why have I never thought of that? I don't like tons of stuff in my salad but I do like croutons.
Perfect for salads or soup, love these!
I definitely like "stuff" in my salad! These sound wonderful.
